Bark

Lumber trading made easy

Designing an all-in-one platform for lumber traders.

From 2021 to 2022, I had the privilege of being the Founding Product Designer at Bark, a platform set to revolutionize the lumber trading industry. In a sector historically dependent on manual processes, Bark sought to modernize and streamline workflows, empowering lumber traders with a digital platform that enhances decision-making.

I was responsible for every aspect of the design process, from user research, wireframing, prototyping, user testing and creating our design system. Our goal was to create a platform that could do for lumber trading what Wealthsimple has done for trading and what Coinbase has achieved for crypto.

We utilized TradingView's API to develop advanced graphing capabilities, offering users in-depth market insights. Among the platform’s standout features were customizable price alerts and a mobile companion app, allowing traders to stay informed and make timely decisions from anywhere. These innovations led several major Canadian lumber brokerages to adopt Bark, and as of early 2024, it is in the process of being acquired by one of these brokerages.
